REPORT PIRACY
SAFACT appeals to you, the public, to report to SAFACT immediately if you have any knowledge of manufacture or sale of counterfeit film or video product or related software.
- Piracy funds organized crime and damages our film and video industry.
- Piracy costs jobs and can harm the people working in our music and publishing industry
- Piracy funds terrorism which can destroy our development and your future enjoyment.
Even the simple reporting of movie and game vendors at the traffic lights can assist us to track down
the source of the counterfeit products, and make the country a safer place for all of
us.
All counterfeit crimes should be reported to SAFACT, anonymously if required.
When the customer reports an illegal DVD or CD stand, whether on
the side of the road or at a flea market, the report will be recorded by SAFACT who will then
follow the correct legal procedures in confiscating product and/or arresting the
culprits. If the caller chooses to provide their details, they will stand a chance of winning a hamper full of entertainment products.
Please do not report the crime and remain on the site in anticipation of the
raid, as due process must be followed.
Piracy Reporting Services
The following methods can be used to report piracy 24 hours per day, anonymously if required:
SAFACT Piracy SMS Service: 32211
SMS a report on piracy activity to 32211 by sending the word "Piracy" followed by your report.
Please include:
- Type of piracy (DVD, Video, CD's, Software)
- The physical location of the signing
- Name of the business and / or person involved.
All SMS reports are charged at R 1.00 excl vat. Free SMS's do not apply.
